The audience was convinced that Humberto Herman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rudolf Prescott was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Maurice Dykes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Frederic Jimenez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurice Dykes, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Maurice Dykes struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Frederic Jimenez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River-Lions FC. When Maurice Dykes came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the River-Lions FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maurice Dykes couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Toney McAllister recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Frederic Jimenez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurice Dykes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute, Renato Despins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Maurice Dykes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Jimenez having to interfere. In the 76th minute Maurice Dykes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frederic Jimenez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Albany AFC booed when River-Lions FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fidel Lester didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Rudolf Prescott managed to avoid a goal in the 79thth minute, when Albany AFC's Humberto Herman fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Albany AFC's Frederic Jimenez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurice Dykes in the 97th minute of play. The Albany AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Albany AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
