The TDOT FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Malik Leon should have stopped the shot. Emmanuel Bernard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 29 minutes into the match, Montreal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Earnest Beaver came free, but Paul Champion reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paul Champion showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hollis Dozier, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After 35 played minutes Montreal FC got a freekick which was hit by Grant Vernadeau. Paul Champion came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by TDOT FC's Johnson Slaughter. But to his dismay, Johnson Slaughter quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Malik Leon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bertram Comer in the 48th minute. The Montreal FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. TDOT FC were winning 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Johnson Slaughter to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Montreal FC booed when TDOT FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklyn Cho didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Montreal FC's Paul Champion got control of the ball when Earnest Beaver tried to sneak it across the goal line.
