Spectators: 8016 (Terracing: 6014, Seating: 1843, VIP seats: 159) Yankees's Roy Acosta started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gerard Petit who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 4thth minute tested the skills of Harvey Edmonds when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Harvey Edmonds made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Raymundo Robbins sent off a good shot on target. After 9 minutes of play, Yankees's Raymundo Robbins made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Harvey Edmonds was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 13th minute of the match, Gerard Petit got a very nice opportunity to score, but Harvey Edmonds was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Manuel Gilbert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Guoan's Manuel Gilbert got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adolph Titus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brady Lester having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Manuel Gilbert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Glen Barbour charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Glen Barbour the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Guoan's Glen Barbour got a free kick in the 40th minute. After having played for 41 minutes, Gerard Petit managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yankees's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerard Petit was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Harvey Edmonds was out of position in the 46 minute of play, and Raymundo Robbins capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Raymundo Robbins really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Raymundo Robbins in the 52nd minute of play forced Guoan's goalkeeper Harvey Edmonds to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Harvey Edmonds stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raymundo Robbins's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Amado Meilleur kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Roy Acosta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harvey Edmonds having to interfere. 75 minutes into the match, Guoan's goal looked a bit too open when Raymundo Robbins came free, but Harvey Edmonds reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guoan's Harvey Edmonds played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raymundo Robbins in the 78th minute of play. Manuel Gilbert blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brady Lester having to make a save. Manuel Gilbert struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Brady Lester didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guoan. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Manuel Gilbert managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guoan's supporters rose to their feet, but Manuel Gilbert was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brady Lester breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roy Acosta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Harvey Edmonds tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 97 minutes, Amado Meilleur mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guoan and the Yankees players grew even worse after the yellow card.
