In the 23rd minute Oliver Womack shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hector Wray saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Robert Bermudez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oliver Harmon having to interfere. Von Winter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oliver Harmon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Von Winter, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Hector Wray took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deon Robbins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute, Roberto Léveillé hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brad Lyles's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 42ndth minute, Oliver Harmon skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Maxime Arellano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Oliver Harmon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brad Lyles to make the kick off. New York Stars's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brad Lyles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0.
