The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Teodoro Lunsford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Damon Vernadeau kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Damon Vernadeau charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Galaxy's Teodoro Lunsford got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Boniface Doiron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 24th minute, Belaid Benmabrouk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Işık Tanyolaç charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Işık Tanyolaç the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in L.A. Galaxy fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 25th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Vauquelin CN a penalty, 27 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Irvin Post, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of L.A. Galaxy's Graham Spangler. 1-0. Lou Bergman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boniface Doiron in the 32nd minute of the match. Teodoro Lunsford scored 1-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lou Bergman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Boniface Doiron fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lou Bergman having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Waldo Shelton made a precise shot to the right of Lou Bergman. Vauquelin CN's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After the first half L.A. Galaxy were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Boniface Doiron to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Boniface Doiron managed to get in a good position for a shot. L.A. Galaxy's supporters rose to their feet, but Boniface Doiron was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lou Bergman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 53 minutes, Teodoro Lunsford managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. L.A. Galaxy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teodoro Lunsford was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, L.A. Galaxy's Waldo Shelton got a free kick in the 54th minute. If Boniface Doiron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Boniface Doiron came free with the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Lou Bergman could save by the left post. Mack Holley kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Santos Allison recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 81st minute, Mack Holley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute, Boniface Doiron ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lou Bergman was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredric Lebel in the 89th minute of play forced L.A. Galaxy's goalkeeper Graham Spangler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
