Vancouver AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Dillon the free kick. A collision led to Vancouver AFC getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Jared Keller hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Dawkins in the 20th minute of play forced SC Dillon's goalkeeper Shon Vinson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kelly Boggs charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kelly Boggs the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vancouver AFC booed when SC Dillon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kelly Boggs didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcel Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Shon Vinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kelly Boggs in the 32nd minute of play forced Vancouver AFC's goalkeeper Olin Rubio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 38 minutes, Roman Dawkins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vancouver AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roman Dawkins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. SC Dillon's Shon Vinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malcolm Campbell in the 45th minute of play. After having played for 45 minutes, Anibal Watson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vancouver AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anibal Watson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leonardo Charlebois stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. During the 56th minute of the match Kelly Boggs completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Kelly Boggs a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 57th minute, Anibal Watson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 58 played minutes SC Dillon got a freekick which was hit by Bobbie Gagne. The referee gave Vancouver AFC a penalty, 60 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Roman Dawkins, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SC Dillon's Shon Vinson. 1-1. In the 63rd minute, Anibal Watson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vancouver AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. If Malcolm Campbell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in SC Dillon's zone, Roman Dawkins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shon Vinson came out of the goal and Roman Dawkins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Leonardo Charlebois fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Dillon's protests and gave Leonardo Charlebois a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Vancouver AFC booed when SC Dillon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Charlebois didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anibal Watson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Dillon's goalkeeper Shon Vinson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SC Dillon's Shon Vinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Dawkins in the 99th minute of play. Vancouver AFC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
