Emory Richmond recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Teodoro Barger scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bryon Russ, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Toronto FC's Bryon Russ played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodoro Barger in the 14th minute of play. Teodoro Barger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. River Plate Mtl's Carlos Arsenault played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Max Darby in the 18th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ross Patten during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to River Plate Mtl getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Ross Patten hit a great ball. Carlos Arsenault showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rick Elder, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Otto Ragsdale hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. 26 minutes into the game, Derek Weston was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. River Plate Mtl's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Toronto FC the free kick. In the 26th match minute, River Plate Mtl was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derek Weston to maneuver through the defense. Jesus Aguilera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Carlos Arsenault tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Toronto FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Rick Elder hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Max Darby kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carlos Arsenault. That made the score 1-1 in the 32 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodoro Barger in the 35th minute of play forced Toronto FC's goalkeeper Bryon Russ to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 37 played minutes Toronto FC got a freekick which was hit by Max Darby. Carlos Arsenault stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emory Richmond's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. In the 44th minute Fernando Strong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bryon Russ saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emory Richmond to strike the kick off in the second half. 楚宁坚 hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 54thth minute of the game Derek Weston who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Toronto FC's Bryon Russ was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carlos Arsenault made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emory Richmond in the 59th minute of play. If Emory Richmond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Carlos Arsenault showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emory Richmond, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After 63 played minutes River Plate Mtl got a freekick which was hit by Teodoro Barger. When Toronto FC's Emory Richmond in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye River Plate Mtl's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Emory Richmond's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Arsenault was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. The supporters of Toronto FC booed when River Plate Mtl was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otto Ragsdale didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 73 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for River Plate Mtl! Emory Richmond blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Arsenault having to make a save. 76 minutes into the match, River Plate Mtl's goal looked a bit too open when Emory Richmond came free, but Carlos Arsenault reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute, Max Darby left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Toronto FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. 84 minutes into the game, Toronto FC's Emory Richmond nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Arsenault made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Emory Richmond might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Arsenault. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emory Richmond ran back to his position shaking his head. 87 minutes into the match, River Plate Mtl's goal looked a bit too open when Emory Richmond came free, but Carlos Arsenault reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emory Richmond blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Arsenault having to make a save. Carlos Arsenault took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emory Richmond, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Toronto FC's Emory Richmond got a free kick in the 93rd minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the River Plate Mtl players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Toronto FC.
