Jamey Smalls might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Arsenault. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jamey Smalls ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Arsenault showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gonzalo Clifton, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Carlos Arsenault made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonzalo Clifton in the 19th minute of play. A collision led to River Plate Mtl getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Teodoro Barger hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute Derek Weston shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arlie Gousse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Derek Weston's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arlie Gousse was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Leroy Dalton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Arlie Gousse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Inwood's Elmer Sullivan got a free kick in the 29th minute. The audience was convinced that Derek Weston's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arlie Gousse was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Carlos Arsenault made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gonzalo Clifton in the 33rd minute. When Gaston Thomson fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inwood's protests and gave Gaston Thomson a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Inwood's Gaston Thomson got a free kick in the 41st minute. 42 minutes into the match, Inwood's goal looked a bit too open when Winston Guevara came free, but Arlie Gousse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fernando Strong's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arlie Gousse read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Arlie Gousse showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ray Fugate in the 44th minute of the match. Gaston Thomson hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Teodoro Barger was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 46th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Arlie Gousse made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leroy Dalton in the 51st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chi Léveillé in the 52nd minute of play forced River Plate Mtl's goalkeeper Carlos Arsenault to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 52nd minute Chi Léveillé shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Arsenault saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arlie Gousse was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Teodoro Barger capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Teodoro Barger really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. 63 minutes into the game, Ray Fugate lined in a short shot 0-2 behind a frustrated Arlie Gousse. Ian Trejo hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as River Plate Mtl's Ray Fugate slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arlie Gousse. That made the score 0-3 after 69 minutes of play. In the 77th minute, Leroy Dalton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arlie Gousse was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Ray Fugate struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Arlie Gousse didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate Mtl. Leroy Dalton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd minute, Leroy Dalton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 85 minutes, Chi Léveillé mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inwood and the River Plate Mtl players grew even worse after the yellow card. Chi Léveillé kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Inwood's Chi Léveillé got a free kick in the 87th minute. Inwood's Ian Trejo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ira Ransom, made in the 93rd minute of the game. The River Plate Mtl supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing River Plate Mtl would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
