In the 11th minute, Richmond FC's Shannon Aragon seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Shannon Aragon the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Richmond FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Shannon Aragon had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 12 played minutes Richmond FC got a freekick which was hit by Shannon Aragon. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yann Hobbs in the 18th minute of play forced Richmond FC's goalkeeper Brock Jalbert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brock Jalbert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yann Hobbs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 24 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Art Salmons sped through Richmond FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Brock Jalbert. Joel Boswell made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Stanton Purcell sent off a good shot on target. In the 39th minute, Shad Funk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the MURGASH defense, Stanton Purcell kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joel Boswell. The MURGASH fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joel Boswell should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Art Salmons was the one to do the kick off. When Mauro Childers fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MURGASH's protests and gave Mauro Childers a yellow card for diving instead. Dorsey Crane's late challenge caught a MURGASH's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dorsey Crane helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th minute, Dorsey Crane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. MURGASH made a substitution. Stevie Finch replaced Rosario Proctor. A collision led to Richmond FC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Dorsey Crane hit a great ball. In the 61st minute, Hubert Routhier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 64 played minutes Richmond FC got a freekick which was hit by René Grenier. In the 69th minute Stanton Purcell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Boswell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dave Bloom during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Richmond FC booed when MURGASH was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dave Bloom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Richmond FC's Stanton Purcell got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Richmond FC's Connie Currie got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 81st minute Art Salmons shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brock Jalbert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led MURGASH's Mark Carlton to fire away a dangerous shot which Brock Jalbert despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Joel Boswell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanton Purcell in the 85th minute of play. If Stanton Purcell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Richmond FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching MURGASH's performance. The match ended with a win for MURGASH.
