Gilberto Vieira charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gilberto Vieira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 34 played minutes CA Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Vieira. An unexpected shot in the 35th minute by Mack Guy got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armel Coulombe during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mack Guy to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Mack Guy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gösta Häll saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Dundee United FC SC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
