Spectators: 4530 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 500, VIP seats: 30) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mario Fecteau started the match with the kick off. Lino Mason helped the player get up and apologised. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Maynard Boone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mario Fecteau in the 12th minute of play. Montréal City's Elliott Jarrett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lino Mason in the 17th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Rocky Ratliff got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 19th match minute, Montréal City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reginald Ducharme to maneuver through the defense. After 20 minutes, Grady Richmond mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montréal City and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Montréal City's Grady Richmond got a free kick in the 20th minute. When Rocky Ratliff came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rocky Ratliff couldn't finish the play. In the 23rd minute Nestor Huard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elliott Jarrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Nestor Huard got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maynard Boone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mario Fecteau, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was a penalty for Vancouver Whitecaps FC! In the 44th minute, Reginald Ducharme left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montréal City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After the first half Montréal City were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lino Mason was the one to do the kick off. Elliott Jarrett didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nestor Huard went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Maynard Boone made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mario Fecteau in the 67th minute. In the 69th match minute, Vancouver Whitecaps FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bobby Drake to maneuver through the defense. Mario Fecteau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Maynard Boone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rocky Ratliff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 81st minute, Mario Fecteau left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montréal City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Maynard Boone proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Vancouver Whitecaps FC from getting a goal against them. 98 minutes into the match, Mario Fecteau had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Maynard Boone. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mario Fecteau was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3.
