Brock Jalbert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 5 minutes into the match, Lino Mason had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brock Jalbert. Richmond FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lino Mason was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Brock Jalbert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lino Mason in the 8th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Mason in the 12th minute of play forced Richmond FC's goalkeeper Brock Jalbert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maynard Boone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angel Hankins, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 19thth minute of the game Lino Mason who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Richmond FC's Brock Jalbert was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lino Mason sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Angel Hankins came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Richmond FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angel Hankins couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Nestor Huard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nestor Huard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brock Jalbert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Maynard Boone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angel Hankins, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 38th minute, Stanton Purcell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Nestor Huard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stanton Purcell blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maynard Boone having to make a save. René Grenier hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 71st match minute, Richmond FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angel Hankins to maneuver through the defense. Maynard Boone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angel Hankins in the 80th minute of play. René Grenier charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed René Grenier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. René Grenier kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. 83 minutes into the match, Stanton Purcell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Maynard Boone. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stanton Purcell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. If Stanton Purcell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 92 played minutes Richmond FC got a freekick which was hit by René Grenier. Maynard Boone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanton Purcell in the 94th minute of play. Richmond FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Vancouver Whitecaps FC for a fine match.
