Theron Dooley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurice Odonnell in the 15th minute of play. Varennes were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after NDG Fury FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Théophile Berger took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Théophile Berger got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Theron Dooley quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 20th minute of the match Varennes got a corner. NDG Fury FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Théophile Berger ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a rather tough play, NDG Fury FC's Collin Ramsey got a free kick in the 24th minute. Théophile Berger's late challenge caught a NDG Fury FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Théophile Berger helped the player get up and apologised. In the 29th minute, Théophile Berger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Varennes's Gilberto Boone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ómar Sharif in the 32nd minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, NDG Fury FC's goal looked a bit too open when Maurice Odonnell came free, but Theron Dooley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 40 played minutes NDG Fury FC got a freekick which was hit by Dwayne Ducharme. The supporters of NDG Fury FC booed when Varennes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Théophile Berger didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th match minute, Varennes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quincy Loyd to maneuver through the defense. NDG Fury FC's Chauncey Veilleux got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maurice Odonnell to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurice Odonnell in the 52nd minute of play forced NDG Fury FC's goalkeeper Theron Dooley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by NDG Fury FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Théophile Berger was slow to take the kick. During this time Varennes's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Maurice Odonnell almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but NDG Fury FC's Theron Dooley did a great save. Gilberto Boone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mårten Arenstedt, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. In the 59th minute, Erwin Gay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 64th play minutes Maurice Odonnell shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Theron Dooley and just under the crossbar into goal. Varennes made a substitution. When Dwayne Ducharme fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NDG Fury FC's protests and gave Dwayne Ducharme a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th minute, Dwayne Ducharme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Varennes walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
