After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Thommy Vuerinx managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Mercier-Est's supporters rose to their feet, but Thommy Vuerinx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Whitmore breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 8th minute, Thommy Vuerinx left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Mercier-Est fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 13th minute of the match FC Mercier-Est got a corner. Quebec city FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ludomil Trzaskoma ran over to the corner to take the kick. FC Mercier-Est's Ludomil Trzaskoma was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Carlos Whitmore in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Carlos Whitmore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thommy Vuerinx, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 17th minute Jayson Ham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Whitmore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Quebec city FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ignace Bailey came free, but Carlos Whitmore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Mercier-Est's Thommy Vuerinx got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, Quebec city FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jayson Ham came free, but Carlos Whitmore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jed Crane came free with the goalkeeper in the 28th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Manuel Medeleanu could save by the left post. The supporters of FC Mercier-Est booed when Quebec city FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timmy Newcomb didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute Simon Stjohn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Medeleanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Quebec city FC's Carlos Whitmore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jayson Ham in the 37th minute of play. Carlos Whitmore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jayson Ham, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ignace Bailey to make the kick off. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of FC Mercier-Est:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Quebec city FC:s goal. Manuel Medeleanu came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Quebec city FC's Newton Dennison. But to his dismay, Newton Dennison quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The supporters of Quebec city FC booed when FC Mercier-Est was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ludomil Trzaskoma didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ignace Bailey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Carlos Whitmore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 66 minutes, Jayson Ham mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Mercier-Est and the Quebec city FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FC Mercier-Est getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Jayson Ham hit a great ball. In the 68th minute Simon Stjohn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Medeleanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Whitmore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ignace Bailey in the 71st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jed Crane in the 75th minute of play forced FC Mercier-Est's goalkeeper Manuel Medeleanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patrick Hillman charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patrick Hillman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 84th minute, Patrick Hillman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Quebec city FC's zone, Ignace Bailey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Whitmore came out of the goal and Ignace Bailey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 87 minutes into the match, Quebec city FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ignace Bailey came free, but Carlos Whitmore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jed Crane's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Medeleanu was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Ignace Bailey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Whitmore having to interfere.
