A collision led to FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919 getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Carmen Langford hit a great ball. In the 11th minute Benito Lanza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arden Ryder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeffrey Griggs made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Erwin Bush sent off a good shot on target. 17 minutes into the game, Wes Lyles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Arden Ryder was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 19 minutes into the match, Spondin AFC's goalkeeper Jeffrey Griggs had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erwin Bush. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wes Lyles in the 21st minute of play forced FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's goalkeeper Arden Ryder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arden Ryder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Benito Lanza went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carmen Langford in the 28th minute of play forced Spondin AFC's goalkeeper Jeffrey Griggs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's goal looked a bit too open when Georges Huard came free, but Arden Ryder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Georges Huard took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arden Ryder. Arden Ryder dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Arden Ryder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Georges Huard in the 43rd minute of play. In the 44th match minute, Spondin AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clair Viens to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's Jeffrey Griggs threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sébastien Hodges, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919:s Arden Ryder showed great skill when he stopped Georges Huard:s penalty. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

If Sébastien Hodges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sébastien Hodges in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jeffrey Griggs prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 62 minutes into the match, Georges Huard notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's Arden Ryder. Arden Ryder was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Spondin AFC's goalkeeper Jeffrey Griggs, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jeffrey Griggs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sébastien Hodges in the 94th minute of the match. Gervais Becerra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Arden Ryder made a huge save.
