But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anton Ibarra couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Anton Ibarra put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Qwinton Piñeiro. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Maldonado's zone, Ioritz Laguardia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Qwinton Piñeiro came out of the goal and Ioritz Laguardia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ioritz Laguardia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the game, Deportivo Maldonado's Fonda Torrecilla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Orlo Jorrin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 30 minutes into the match, Deportivo Maldonado's goal looked a bit too open when Urtsin Abendano came free, but Qwinton Piñeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Qwinton Piñeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anton Ibarra in the 40th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Calera's Eliseo Cameno got a free kick in the 41st minute. If Fonda Torrecilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute, Rafael Tehas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fonda Torrecilla made a kick off. Qwinton Piñeiro was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Urtsin Abendano capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Urtsin Abendano really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Anton Ibarra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Qwinton Piñeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ioritz Laguardia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Qwinton Piñeiro having to interfere. Qwinton Piñeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anton Ibarra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anton Ibarra was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 75th minute. Calera's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Qwinton Piñeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ioritz Laguardia in the 85th minute. When Anton Ibarra came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Calera fans jumped to their feet. Fonda Torrecilla charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fonda Torrecilla the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Calera had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
