In the 31st minute Munio Cue shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Itzaina Gabirondo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute, Valentine Deco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Munio Cue fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Itzaina Gabirondo having to interfere. After having played for 46 minutes, Valentine Deco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buricayupi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valentine Deco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Quico Proenza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fidencio Padura to make the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fidencio Padura couldn't finish the play. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 80 minutes into the match, Ahogados's goal looked a bit too open when Quico Proenza came free, but Xerardo Villaño reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
