Club Atlético Peñarol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ruperto Manjaleguas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ruperto Manjaleguas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Juan-Carlos Magadan in the 15thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Fulgencio Ilarza, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Juan-Carlos Magadan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fulgencio Ilarza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan-Carlos Magadan in the 18th minute of play. If Juan-Carlos Magadan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ruperto Manjaleguas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ruperto Manjaleguas might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fulgencio Ilarza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ruperto Manjaleguas ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Quebracho FC's Bartoleme Balanzuela got a free kick in the 28th minute. With his leg Fulgencio Ilarza managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Club Atlético Peñarol's Ruperto Manjaleguas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Quebracho FC's Fulgencio Ilarza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan-Carlos Magadan in the 35th minute of play. Juan-Carlos Magadan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fulgencio Ilarza having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Juan-Carlos Magadan in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fulgencio Ilarza saved Quebracho FC from getting behind. 41 minutes into the match, Ruperto Manjaleguas notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Quebracho FC's Fulgencio Ilarza. Fulgencio Ilarza was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sandalio Lobado to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Peñarol's goalkeeper Roger Valseca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bartoleme Balanzuela. Roger Valseca was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sandalio Lobado showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 61 minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Peñarol's Ruperto Manjaleguas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fulgencio Ilarza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 68th minute Siro Ibar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Valseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 76 minutes of play, Club Atlético Peñarol's Juan-Carlos Magadan made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fulgencio Ilarza was left in no man's land by his defense there!
