Lico Pena started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Panfilo Goycoa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Panfilo Goycoa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Martijana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Club Atlético River Plate's Rodolfo Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lico Pena in the 18th minute of play. The supporters of Club Atlético River Plate booed when Espinillo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caitano Bonilla didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Panfilo Goycoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 31st minute of the match Caitano Bonilla completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Caitano Bonilla a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 32nd match minute, Espinillo AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caitano Bonilla to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Espinillo AFC's zone, Panfilo Goycoa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Martijana came out of the goal and Panfilo Goycoa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Panfilo Goycoa's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 37thth minute, Paulo Martijana skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Panfilo Goycoa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute, Estebano Selgas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Estevao Ajorbe hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After the first half Espinillo AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Panfilo Goycoa made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Espinillo AFC's goalkeeper Paulo Martijana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Estevao Ajorbe got free with Rodolfo Lago in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 57 minutes into the game, Club Atlético River Plate's Panfilo Goycoa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Martijana made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Paulo Martijana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panfilo Goycoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 62 minutes, Estevao Ajorbe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Espinillo AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Estevao Ajorbe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Duarte Granolles kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Alfonso Galvan kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the match, Beat Palmero sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Rodolfo Lago threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Beat Palmero this time. Panfilo Goycoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Martijana having to interfere. Xian Pijuan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rodolfo Lago made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Estevao Ajorbe sent off a good shot on target. Lordi Tapia scored 2-1 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Paulo Martijana, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Panfilo Goycoa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Paulo Martijana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Espinillo AFC's Aureliano Bodelon got a free kick in the 96th minute. It was beautiful to see Club Atlético River Plate's Panfilo Goycoa in action when he in the 98th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance!
