Montes's Federico Guardiola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Panfilo Goycoa in the 61st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Montes's Marco Paniagua got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Pacifico Camarero hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. If Marco Paniagua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Montes's Mouricio Raireta got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Club Atlético River Plate were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
