In the 81st minute, Zacarias Balaguer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Afonso Echarriza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ekain Pacheco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Charruas's zone, Ekain Pacheco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afonso Echarriza came out of the goal and Ekain Pacheco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ekain Pacheco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Echarriza having to interfere. Paysandu FC played a much better game than Charruas and deserved their victory. The Charruas players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
