In the 10thth minute of the game Emesto Andrade who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GIMNASIA's Caetano Pizarro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 11 minutes into the match, GIMNASIA's goal looked a bit too open when Emesto Andrade came free, but Caetano Pizarro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rogelio Salterain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Roi Arizmendi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caetano Pizarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emesto Andrade in the 19th minute of the match. If Emesto Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Laurgain Polo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caetano Pizarro having to interfere. Caetano Pizarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emesto Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The long shot by Oalo Guasch in the 26th minute really tested Caetano Pizarro's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 29 minutes into the match, Diaz's Emesto Andrade sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Caetano Pizarro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 30th minute of the match Diaz got a corner. GIMNASIA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomi Yaner ran over to the corner to take the kick. After having played for 33 minutes, Rogelio Salterain managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GIMNASIA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogelio Salterain was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Laurgain Polo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 36th playminute. 40 minutes into the game, Lourenco Casillas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GIMNASIA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Diaz the free kick. Laurgain Polo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Caetano Pizarro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Roi Arizmendi made the kick off in the second half. Caetano Pizarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emesto Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Rogelio Salterain could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Leandro Caravantes made a huge save. After a rather tough play, GIMNASIA's Xulian Pedronera got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Tomi Yaner, 63 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Emesto Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Diaz's supporters rose to their feet, but Emesto Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caetano Pizarro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 71 played minutes Diaz got a freekick which was hit by Harkaitz Espineiro. In the 72nd minute, Rogelio Salterain got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leandro Caravantes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Roi Arizmendi showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 74 minute of play. When the match clock showed 79 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Rogelio Salterain sped through Diaz's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Leandro Caravantes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laurgain Polo in the 87th minute of play forced GIMNASIA's goalkeeper Caetano Pizarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Diaz's Leandro Caravantes got control of the ball when Rogelio Salterain tried to sneak it across the goal line. Caetano Pizarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emesto Andrade in the 93rd minute of the match. Xulian Pedronera was shown his second yellow card after 94 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Xulian Pedronera kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in GIMNASIA's zone, Laurgain Polo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Caetano Pizarro came out of the goal and Laurgain Polo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
