An unexpectedly hard shot by Martxel Cerrillo in the 20th minute of play forced Peñarol's goalkeeper Sabino Chinchetru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Alvaro Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tiatucura AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alvaro Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sabino Chinchetru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 23rd minute, Zuriko Cañucal made a precise shot to the right of Yago Trespalacios. Tiatucura AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Martxel Cerrillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Sabino Chinchetru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alvaro Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabino Chinchetru having to interfere.

Sabino Chinchetru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martxel Cerrillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. In the 55th minute, Tiatucura AFC's Martxel Cerrillo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Tiatucura AFC's Alvaro Rocha got a free kick in the 58th minute. Alvaro Rocha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Sabino Chinchetru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ronaldinho Tacon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yago Trespalacios having to interfere. Yago Trespalacios took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldinho Tacon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Peñarol's Sabino Chinchetru got control of the ball when Alvaro Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Mazuste Lamota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 76 minutes Peñarol's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Apolo Pinedo who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Leoncio Alcantara heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After having played for 80 minutes, Martxel Cerrillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tiatucura AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martxel Cerrillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Peñarol's Sabino Chinchetru got control of the ball when Alvaro Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alvaro Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabino Chinchetru having to interfere. If Martxel Cerrillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Tacon in the 96th minute of play forced Tiatucura AFC's goalkeeper Yago Trespalacios to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tiatucura AFC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
