The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Goito Areizabal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ronaldinho Tacon went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 6th minute, Ronaldinho Tacon made a precise shot to the right of Goito Areizabal. Baygorria FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 11th minute, Ronaldinho Tacon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Espiridion Fariña's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sabino Chinchetru read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Ronaldinho Tacon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Goito Areizabal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 21st minute, Emilio Amarelle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Peñarol's defense didn't have a chance, in the 24th minute, when Gipuzkoa Mallavia scored to the left of an out of position Sabino Chinchetru, making the score, 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gipuzkoa Mallavia in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sabino Chinchetru saved Peñarol from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Baygorria FC's Chepe Canta got a free kick in the 30th minute. Espiridion Fariña struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Sabino Chinchetru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Baygorria FC. Sabino Chinchetru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gipuzkoa Mallavia in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 37 minutes, Espiridion Fariña managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baygorria FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Espiridion Fariña was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Baygorria FC booed when Peñarol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mazuste Lamota didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Zuriko Cañucal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rdth minute of the game Ronaldinho Tacon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Baygorria FC's Goito Areizabal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Goito Areizabal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zuriko Cañucal in the 46th minute of the match. Ronaldinho Tacon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Goito Areizabal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The wind increased when Gipuzkoa Mallavia made the kick off in the second half. Sabino Chinchetru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gipuzkoa Mallavia, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the match, Baygorria FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldinho Tacon came free, but Goito Areizabal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 56th minute, Cesareo Paradela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Goito Areizabal was out of position in the 58 minute of play, and Ronaldinho Tacon capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Ronaldinho Tacon kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Goito Areizabal. That made the score 1-4 in the 67 minute of play. After 71 minutes, Zuriko Cañucal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Peñarol and the Baygorria FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Zuriko Cañucal kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Sabino Chinchetru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Espiridion Fariña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Baygorria FC's Espiridion Fariña got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 83 minutes into the match, Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Gipuzkoa Mallavia came free, but Sabino Chinchetru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Goito Areizabal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldinho Tacon, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 91st minute, Ronaldinho Tacon reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Goito Areizabal. The goal made the score 1-5. When the match was over Peñarol could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Baygorria FC throughout the match.
