After 3 minutes, Santxo Puellas made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Horqueta's Sauveur Planes tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Sauveur Planes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miliano Espino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Horqueta's zone, Santxo Puellas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sauveur Planes came out of the goal and Santxo Puellas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th match minute, Horqueta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benito Merino to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Salta AFC booed when Horqueta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toli Roncal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sauveur Planes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miliano Espino in the 26th minute of the match. Sauveur Planes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santxo Puellas, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Horqueta's Sauveur Planes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santxo Puellas in the 39th minute of play. Sauveur Planes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santxo Puellas in the 45th minute of the match. After having played for 46 minutes, Bernaldo Arandoja managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salta AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernaldo Arandoja was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nesor Acutain was the one to do the kick off. Bernaldo Arandoja struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Sauveur Planes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salta AFC. In the 53rd minute Santxo Puellas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sauveur Planes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Horqueta's zone, Edmundo Lerea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sauveur Planes came out of the goal and Edmundo Lerea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 56th minute, Timo Persol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Santxo Puellas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sauveur Planes having to make a save. 57 minutes into the match, Horqueta's goalkeeper Sauveur Planes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Santxo Puellas. Nesor Acutain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Salta AFC booed when Horqueta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Desiderio Cases didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sauveur Planes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santxo Puellas, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Edmundo Lerea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Desiderio Cases's late challenge caught a Salta AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Desiderio Cases helped the player get up and apologised. After 76 played minutes Horqueta got a freekick which was hit by Desiderio Cases. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Horqueta's goalkeeper Sauveur Planes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The long shot by Fulvio Proietto in the 81st minute really tested Sauveur Planes's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Sauveur Planes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Santxo Puellas's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Santxo Puellas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Sauveur Planes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Salta AFC's Miliano Espino got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 94 minutes into the match, Horqueta's goal looked a bit too open when Santxo Puellas came free, but Sauveur Planes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sauveur Planes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miliano Espino in the 96th minute of play. Salta AFC played a much better game than Horqueta and deserved their victory. The Horqueta players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
