Peñarol's Alberto Rigues got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wincent Kojder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Rigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 23 minutes, Theodore Armental managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carrasco's supporters crossed their fingers, but Theodore Armental was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute, Alberto Rigues got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aires Malla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Rocio Socorro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Sauveur Baños fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
