The tension between the Nacional and the Defensa players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 3rd match minute, Nacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yoelvis Meneses to maneuver through the defense. Ricart Peñalba could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Zumar Palma made a huge save. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Defensa's goalkeeper Xarles Arruta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 13 minutes, Mitxaut Ugarte mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nacional and the Defensa players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Defensa booed when Nacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mitxaut Ugarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 17 minutes, Weather Santirso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Defensa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Weather Santirso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zumar Palma made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ricart Peñalba in the 20th minute. In the 23rd minute, Defensa's Weather Santirso ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zumar Palma. Zumar Palma yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. When Weather Santirso came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Defensa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Weather Santirso couldn't finish the play. Zumar Palma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Weather Santirso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 33 played minutes Weather Santirso could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 2-0 into the left cross. Weather Santirso struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Zumar Palma didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Defensa. Josepe Seca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zumar Palma having to interfere. Nacional's Zumar Palma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xayveon Morquecho in the 46th minute of play. Zumar Palma stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Weather Santirso's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

If Luar Leizaur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Defensa's Milio Inestrosa seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Milio Inestrosa the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Defensa protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Milio Inestrosa had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Josepe Seca hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Alberto Pardelas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xarles Arruta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Weather Santirso during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Nacional booed when Defensa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Weather Santirso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute, Luar Leizaur got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ricart Peñalba might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zumar Palma. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ricart Peñalba ran back to his position shaking his head. Alberto Pardelas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xarles Arruta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Alberto Pardelas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Weather Santirso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute Weather Santirso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zumar Palma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Ricart Peñalba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
