The audience thought a goal was coming when Txema Avecia got free with Gianluigi Buffon in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Treviso FC's goalkeeper Alejandro Iraido, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 25 minutes into the match, Treviso FC's goal looked a bit too open when Velasco Rollan came free, but Alejandro Iraido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Koldo Balli in the 28th minute of play forced Sociedad Anónima's goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sociedad Anónima's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After a rather tough play, Treviso FC's Gonsalvo Cerra got a free kick in the 76th minute. Sociedad Anónima made a substitution. Marino Malet replaced Pero Barrutia. After 77 played minutes Treviso FC got a freekick which was hit by Gonsalvo Cerra. Alejandro Iraido stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Velasco Rollan's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Gianluigi Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cordarrell Sarro, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Sengrat Nazario received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal.
