But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reuben Meade couldn't finish the play. Artigas's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Valentin Monteagudo in the 19th minute. In the 33rd minute, Agustín Álvarez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montevideo City Torque fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. The supporters of Montevideo City Torque booed when Artigas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentin Monteagudo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Furtado Codina came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Montevideo City Torque's Agustín Álvarez. But to his dismay, Agustín Álvarez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Artigas's Lekubegi Turiel was substituted for Saturnin Sanches. Artigas's Lia Engraba was substituted for Leocadio Teja. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Agustín Álvarez to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Álvarez in the 55th minute of play forced Artigas's goalkeeper Furtado Codina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 64 minutes into the game, Artigas's Lia Engraba nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alkestis Papadopulos hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Gomez Ayon charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gomez Ayon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 92 played minutes Artigas got a freekick which was hit by Gomez Ayon. Christophe Troxler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lia Engraba, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
