Gualter Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodriguinho Faria in the 16th minute of the match. If Túlio Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 30 minutes, Dráusio Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cururupu SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dráusio Antunes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gernando Meireles hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Dráusio Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. João Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cururupu SS's Gualter Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodriguinho Faria in the 38th minute of play. 44 minutes into the match, Cururupu SS's goal looked a bit too open when Anderson de Mendonça came free, but Gualter Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 46 minutes into the game, Lucas Tepedino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cururupu SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itueta the free kick. After 46 played minutes Cururupu SS got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Tepedino. Bernardinho Corrêa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 46th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gualter Chaves. Cururupu SS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Túlio Pitta came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Cururupu SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Túlio Pitta couldn't finish the play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Túlio Pitta to make the kick off. If Rodriguinho Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Itueta's Rodriguinho Faria in the 55th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Gualter Chaves was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Cururupu SS through an amazing save. Itueta's João Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Túlio Pitta in the 58th minute of play. If Túlio Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gualter Chaves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ulysses Peres in the 65th minute. After 73 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cururupu SS! Gualter Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodriguinho Faria in the 83rd minute of play. If Dráusio Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute.
