The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gernando Meireles during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Astorga booed when Cururupu SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gernando Meireles didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Cururupu SS's zone, João Pedro Sarmento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gualter Chaves came out of the goal and João Pedro Sarmento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Cururupu SS's Túlio Pitta got a free kick in the 17th minute. The audience was convinced that Roger Vidal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gualter Chaves was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. In the 24th minute, Gernando Meireles made a precise shot to the right of Cipriano Oliveira. Astorga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 29 minutes into the match, Lucas Tepedino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cipriano Oliveira. Astorga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lucas Tepedino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. With a little luck, Cururupu SS's Gualter Chaves got control of the ball when João Pedro Sarmento tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

With an all-out effort, Cururupu SS's Cipriano Oliveira threw himself towards the right post 51 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gernando Meireles, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Astorga's Cipriano Oliveira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Astorga from getting a goal against them. João Pedro Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Roger Vidal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cipriano Oliveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Túlio Pitta in the 63rd minute of the match. Cipriano Oliveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Túlio Pitta in the 66th minute of play. If Gernando Meireles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. When the final whistle went the supporters of Cururupu SS were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Astorga side.
