Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Henrique Vargas kicked off to start the match. In the 7th minute, Henrique Vargas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Henrique Vargas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zé Paulo Paulista during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Zé Paulo Paulista kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. If Henrique Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gernando Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henrique Vargas in the 24th minute of play. Luiz Fábio Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gernando Montenegro having to interfere. Cristóvão Abraão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Luís Maranhense having to interfere. When Simão Meira fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Iraja's protests and gave Simão Meira a yellow card for diving instead. Simão Meira hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After 35 minutes Iraja's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edmílson Netto who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Edmílson Netto got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sílvio Luís Maranhense quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Minguinho's goalkeeper Gernando Montenegro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 41 played minutes Iraja got a freekick which was hit by Simão Meira. 46 minutes into the match, Minguinho's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Vargas came free, but Gernando Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The audience was convinced that Henrique Vargas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gernando Montenegro was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Gernando Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rony Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 57th minute Henrique Vargas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gernando Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iraja's Luiz Fábio Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Iraja booed when Minguinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Paulista didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rony Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 68 minutes into the game, Henrique Vargas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Gernando Montenegro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gernando Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrique Vargas, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 85 minutes into the match, Henrique Vargas notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Minguinho's Gernando Montenegro. Gernando Montenegro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Rony Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Iraja players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
