Baltazar de Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. SPFC's Glauco Valle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save SPFC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Romário Teles managed to get in a good position for a shot. SPFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Romário Teles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Conrado Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Carlos Alberto Barreto fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Buiu SS's protests and gave Carlos Alberto Barreto a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th match minute, Buiu SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Barreto to maneuver through the defense. Conrado Chaves didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Romário Teles went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. If Romário Teles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Buiu SS's Walmir Galvão got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 38th minute, Romário Teles made a precise shot to the right of Conrado Chaves. Buiu SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. If David Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Buiu SS booed when SPFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovani Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Glauco Valle acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 50th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Felipe Linhares.

The wind increased when Sílvio Zonta made the kick off in the second half. Sílvio Zonta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romário Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Conrado Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Romário Teles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conrado Chaves having to interfere. After 63 minutes of play, SPFC's Baltazar de Medeiros made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Conrado Chaves was left in no man's land by his defense there! 69 minutes into the match, SPFC's Romário Teles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Conrado Chaves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sílvio Zonta in the 72nd minute of play forced SPFC's goalkeeper Glauco Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glauco Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Alberto Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SPFC's Glauco Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Xavier in the 80th minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, SPFC's goal looked a bit too open when David Xavier came free, but Glauco Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Conrado Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romário Teles in the 93rd minute of play. The Buiu SS supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching SPFC's performance. The match ended with a win for SPFC.
