An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Sabóia in the 44th minute of play forced Santos Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Genílson Fantini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santos Futebol Clube's Pedro Goiano got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Genílson Fantini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustavo Sabóia, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcelo Pimenta to strike the kick off in the second half. Santos Futebol Clube's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
