The referee ignored Olimpico EC's protests and gave Ruy Sarmento a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Olimpico EC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Ruy Sarmento hit a great ball. In the 14th minute, Arí Fernandez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Olimpico EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Vito Bertassi came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Olimpico EC's Arí Fernandez. But to his dismay, Arí Fernandez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Vito Bertassi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arí Fernandez in the 20th minute of play. After having played for 23 minutes, Maurinho Faria managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olimpico EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maurinho Faria was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arí Fernandez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Vito Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Arí Fernandez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vito Bertassi was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Lagarta's Vito Bertassi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Chaves in the 32nd minute of play. Olimpico EC's Cesinha Aguiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Maciel in the 34th minute of play. Cesinha Aguiar had in the 38thth minute some difficulties stopping Frank Netto's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Vito Bertassi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eriberto Linhares went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. 45 minutes into the game, Luizão Maciel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lagarta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olimpico EC the free kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Cesinha Aguiar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luizão Maciel in the 52nd minute of the match. Maurinho Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maurinho Faria who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Vito Bertassi when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Maurinho Faria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vito Bertassi having to interfere. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Lagarta's goalkeeper Vito Bertassi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Maurinho Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frank Netto's late challenge caught a Olimpico EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank Netto helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 68th minute of the game. One of Lagarta:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Olimpico EC:s goal. Maurinho Faria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Vito Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 79th match minute, Lagarta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. Olimpico EC's Cássio Chaves got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maurinho Faria blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vito Bertassi having to make a save. Maurinho Faria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vito Bertassi having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Eliézer Meirelles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cesinha Aguiar was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. If Maurinho Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle sounded Olimpico EC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Lagarta.
