C.M. Progresso Paulista's Ulisses Alvarenga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chiquinho Corrêa in the 8th minute of play. Cléber Loyola recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 20th minute, Cléber Loyola got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 22nd minute, Jeremias Lira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ulisses Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cléber Loyola in the 30th minute of play. After a rather tough play, C.M. Progresso Paulista's José Augusto Amorim got a free kick in the 38th minute. Jeremias Lira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Umburana's Jeremias Lira got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to C.M. Progresso Paulista getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. José Augusto Amorim hit a great ball. In the 48th minute, Cléber Loyola got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Cléber Loyolas short, quick shot in the 57thth minute got Ulisses Alvarenga to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Pedro Luiz Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristian Zonta having to interfere. Chiquinho Corrêa hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Ulisses Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremias Lira in the 65th minute of play. 69 minutes into the game, Chiquinho Corrêa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Umburana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.M. Progresso Paulista the free kick. After 71 played minutes C.M. Progresso Paulista got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar Severo. Umburana's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gilmar Cardoso in the 74th minute. Jeremias Lira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 78 minutes, Jeremias Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Umburana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jeremias Lira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremias Lira in the 83rd minute of play forced C.M. Progresso Paulista's goalkeeper Ulisses Alvarenga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cléber Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulisses Alvarenga having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Jeremias Lira took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Ulisses Alvarenga to make any attempt to save it. Ulisses Alvarenga didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 96th minute, which inside left pole to 1-2.
