Luisinho Messias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão Martins in the 14th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Sport Recife FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of King Pelé U18:s goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Recife FC's zone, Maurício Barbosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marquinhos Nascimento came out of the goal and Maurício Barbosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Maurício Barbosa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marquinhos Nascimento read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Geovani Damião sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Geovani Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot. The supporters of King Pelé U18 booed when Sport Recife FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mazinho Arce didn't get a good kick on the ball.
