Faustão Trancoso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeferson Peres in the 5th minute. Eusébio Medeiros hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After having played for 22 minutes, Orlando Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varnhagen EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orlando Gonçalves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pé de Pano FC's Faustão Trancoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Pé de Pano FC from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Pé de Pano FC's Richard Arósio got a free kick in the 24th minute. Faustão Trancoso came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Varnhagen EC's Jeferson Peres. But to his dismay, Jeferson Peres quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Zé Paulo Furtado struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Ronaldo Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pé de Pano FC. Ronaldo Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Paulo Furtado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Pé de Pano FC's Faustão Trancoso got control of the ball when Jeferson Peres tried to sneak it across the goal line. Orlando Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd match minute, Pé de Pano FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Braga to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Pé de Pano FC's Faustão Trancoso got control of the ball when Jeferson Peres tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Pé de Pano FC's zone, Orlando Gonçalves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Faustão Trancoso came out of the goal and Orlando Gonçalves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The audience was convinced that Orlando Gonçalves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Faustão Trancoso was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Alexandre Zilles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Orlando Gonçalves put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Faustão Trancoso. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antônio de Brito during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Varnhagen EC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Antônio de Brito hit a great ball. Varnhagen EC's Ronaldo Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Paulo Furtado in the 67th minute of play. If Orlando Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute Zé Paulo Furtado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Varnhagen EC's Orlando Gonçalves got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Orlando Gonçalves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varnhagen EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeferson Peres in the 92nd minute of play forced Pé de Pano FC's goalkeeper Faustão Trancoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Francisco Braga fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pé de Pano FC's protests and gave Francisco Braga a yellow card for diving instead. Francisco Braga kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Mané do Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Pé de Pano FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Varnhagen EC.
