Marco Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodoro Batista in the 10th minute of the match. In the 11th minute Thiago da Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute, Xapeco EC's Duarte Pena dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After 19 minutes of play, Jubiro's Belchior Leme made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marco Maia was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marco Maia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adhemar Araújo during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Xapeco EC's Adhemar Araújo got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Marco Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belchior Leme in the 34th minute of the match. If Duarte Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Xapeco EC booed when Jubiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hílton Secco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Duarte Pena in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonas Sá prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Duarte Pena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonas Sá was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. The Xapeco EC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Jubiro's performance. The match ended with a win for Jubiro.
