José Carlos Saraiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Juarana AD's goal looked a bit too open when Beto Moreno came free, but José Carlos Saraiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Juarana AD's zone, Beto Moreno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Carlos Saraiva came out of the goal and Beto Moreno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José Carlos Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beto Moreno in the 43rd minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabiano Nogueira made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Frank Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Carlos Saraiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugo Paranaense charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When the final whistle sounded Saumama left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Juarana AD.
