Remo Passos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Rezende in the 5th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Atafona's Sílvio Luiz Castro got a free kick in the 8th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Sílvio Luiz Castro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ernesto Peixoto, 1-0. In the 17th minute, Nestor Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Atafona's Dráusio Salgado suffered a concussion after 21 minutes and had to leave the field. 21 minutes into the game, Sydney Rezende was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pitingao FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atafona the free kick. Sydney Rezende hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. A collision led to Atafona getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Alex Arce hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mário Paraense in the 27th minute of play forced Atafona's goalkeeper Remo Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, Mário Paraense ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Remo Passos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 30 played minutes Pitingao FC got a freekick which was hit by Dudu Baptista. 32 minutes into the match, Pitingao FC's goalkeeper Ernesto Peixoto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alex Arce. 33 minutes into the match, Atafona's goal looked a bit too open when Dudu Baptista came free, but Remo Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 38 minutes of play, Pitingao FC's Sydney Rezende made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Remo Passos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ernesto Peixoto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alex Arce in the 43rd minute. 45 minutes into the game, Pitingao FC's Sydney Rezende nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Remo Passos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alex Arce made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Vicente Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dudu Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Remo Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Sydney Rezende got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sydney Rezende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Remo Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 70 minutes, Agnaldo Paraense mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atafona and the Pitingao FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Pitingao FC booed when Atafona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agnaldo Paraense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dudu Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Remo Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Atafona getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Chicão Maranhense hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sydney Rezende in the 83rd minute of play forced Atafona's goalkeeper Remo Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Atafona's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dudu Baptista fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Delfim Romero struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Remo Passos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pitingao FC. With an all-out effort, Pitingao FC's Remo Passos threw himself towards the right post 89 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sydney Rezende, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Sydney Rezende was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Pitingao FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Pitingao FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
