But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Amorim couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Jiquiri FC's zone, Frank Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulisses de Azevedo came out of the goal and Frank Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Oséas Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jiquiri FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Oséas Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan de Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rubens Gerber during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rubens Gerber hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, Jiquiri FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tostão Miranda came free, but Ulisses de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jiquiri FC's Ulisses de Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tostão Miranda in the 40th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Rubinho Moura was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jiquiri FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maioba the free kick. After 40 played minutes Jiquiri FC got a freekick which was hit by Rubinho Moura. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oséas Carvalho was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Maioba booed when Jiquiri FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredão Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Despite being the better team, Maioba failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
