With a left leg Oscar Ferraz saved fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢ from getting behind. After a rather tough play, fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢'s Reynaldo Barbosa got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute of the match Cléberson Gaspar shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oscar Ferraz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Cipriano Chaves's late challenge caught a Caraibuna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cipriano Chaves helped the player get up and apologised. After 7 played minutes fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢ got a freekick which was hit by Cipriano Chaves. A collision led to fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢ getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Cipriano Chaves hit a great ball. Franklin Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oscar Ferraz came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Caraibuna's Lúcio Valadares. But to his dismay, Lúcio Valadares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franklin Garcia in the 15th minute of play forced fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢'s goalkeeper Oscar Ferraz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢ getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Cipriano Chaves hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Lúcio Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraibuna's supporters rose to their feet, but Lúcio Valadares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oscar Ferraz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Franklin Garcia came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Caraibuna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Franklin Garcia couldn't finish the play. In the 25thth minute of the game Lúcio Valadares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢'s Oscar Ferraz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 29th minute Franklin Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Ferraz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oscar Ferraz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lúcio Valadares's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Waldir de Moraes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aírton Meirelles in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Caraibuna's goalkeeper Waldir de Moraes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eusébio Branco. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lúcio Valadares in the 45th minute of play forced fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢'s goalkeeper Oscar Ferraz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Eusébio Branco came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eusébio Branco couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Caraibuna's Waldir de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aírton Meirelles in the 56th minute of play. Eusébio Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Waldir de Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Lúcio Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reynaldo Barbosa hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢'s Cipriano Chaves got a free kick in the 79th minute. Caraibuna's Lúcio Valadares got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lúcio Valadares in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Oscar Ferraz saved fα¢¢ιηιѕ ƒ¢ from getting behind. Oscar Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Valadares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Caraibuna's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
