With his leg Jarbas Maranhense managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when Paranai EC's Marcus Tinoco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Kléber Ortiz scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of André Chaves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 13 minutes into the game, Fernandão Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paranai EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brilhante FC the free kick. After 18 played minutes Paranai EC got a freekick which was hit by Rui Leal. After having played for 20 minutes, Kléber Ortiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brilhante FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kléber Ortiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Betinho Prata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Maranhense having to interfere. After 26 played minutes Paranai EC got a freekick which was hit by Rui Leal. Lauro Furlan charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lauro Furlan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lauro Furlan hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Marcus Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Jarbas Maranhense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Paranai EC's Betinho Prata slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jarbas Maranhense. That made the score 1-1 after 35 minutes of play. Marcus Tinoco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of Jarbas Maranhense when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Jarbas Maranhense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Betinho Prata's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. The supporters of Paranai EC booed when Brilhante FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Allan Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Betinho Prata stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Betinho Prata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarbas Maranhense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Brilhante FC's zone, Marcus Tinoco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jarbas Maranhense came out of the goal and Marcus Tinoco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Allan Amorim hit a great ball. In the 67th minute of the match Fernandão Almeida sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jarbas Maranhense skillfully saved the ball. Jarbas Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betinho Prata in the 69th minute of play. Jarbas Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betinho Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Betinho Prata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Jarbas Maranhense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th match minute, Paranai EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Leal to maneuver through the defense. 80 minutes into the game, Marcus Tinoco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Jarbas Maranhense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Betinho Prata took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jarbas Maranhense. Jarbas Maranhense dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. In the 92ndth minute of the game Marcus Tinoco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brilhante FC's Jarbas Maranhense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 94 minutes, Allan Amorim mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brilhante FC and the Paranai EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Brilhante FC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Allan Amorim hit a great ball. Marcus Tinoco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
