Christiano Tinoco charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christiano Tinoco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Diego de Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Valdir Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 9th minute, Manfredo Alagoano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dionísio Dantas took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Álvaro Guimarães. Itaja's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Itaja's Diego de Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Diego de Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 20th minute, Cido Veloso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Itaja fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Diego de Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Sérgio Pires sped through Itaja's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Álvaro Guimarães. After having played for 33 minutes, Sérgio Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E. Time do Ganso's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sérgio Pires was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Álvaro Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sérgio Pires in the 45th minute of the match. Diego de Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Álvaro Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sérgio Pires, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Dino Travassos took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Álvaro Guimarães. Álvaro Guimarães dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Itaja players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for S.E. Time do Ganso.
