In the 14th minute Abel Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abel Souza was the one to do the kick off. Nelson Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 63 minutes into the game, Umberto Vinhas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Limeirinha AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barrelina the free kick. After 63 played minutes Limeirinha AD got a freekick which was hit by Umberto Vinhas. Valdomiro Vasconcelos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 64th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nelson Martins. Limeirinha AD's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chiquinho Maia in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jairo Duarte prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 69 minutes, Joel Santana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barrelina and the Limeirinha AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chiquinho Maia in the 70th minute of play forced Barrelina's goalkeeper Jairo Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Abel Souza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nelson Martins was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Barrelina's Durval Arósio got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Souza in the 95th minute of play forced Limeirinha AD's goalkeeper Nelson Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Barrelina eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
