Virgílio Monteiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lauro Alvarenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute, Waldir Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 28th minute Anderson da Mata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aníbal Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oséas Brito blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aníbal Neves having to make a save. If Lauro Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Liverpool de Natal's Marcelo Damião was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Virgílio Monteiro in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 41st minute Waldir Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Liverpool de Natal's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Waldir Toledo in the 42nd minute. Waldir Toledo was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 44th match minute, Onze Veloz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cícero Linares to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Anderson da Mata stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Oséas Brito recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute, Lauro Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the game, Lauro Alvarenga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liverpool de Natal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Onze Veloz the free kick. Lauro Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. In the 77th minute Anderson da Mata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aníbal Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aníbal Neves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anderson da Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Zeca Lira kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Waldir Toledo placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! When Enio Borges fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Onze Veloz's protests and gave Enio Borges a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Onze Veloz's Enio Borges got a free kick in the 85th minute. Anderson da Mata struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Aníbal Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Onze Veloz. Anderson da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aníbal Neves having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Anderson da Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
