A collision led to Alecrim FC getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Otávio Ortiz hit a great ball. After 6 played minutes Anacetaba got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos Lago. When Romeu Cerezo came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Alecrim FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeu Cerezo couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Otávio Ortiz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alecrim FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Otávio Ortiz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rui Barreto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Otávio Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinei Dracena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Barreto having to interfere. 16 minutes into the game, Alecrim FC's Nilmar Matos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Barreto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 18th minute, Nilmar Matos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rui Barreto was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. After having played for 24 minutes, Nilmar Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alecrim FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nilmar Matos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Alecrim FC's Romeu Cerezo in the 26th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Rui Barreto was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Anacetaba through an amazing save. In the 30th minute Cláudio Zanette shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chiquinho Baptista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Anacetaba booed when Alecrim FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adalberto Gaspar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Otávio Ortiz managed to get in a good position for a shot. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cláudio Zanette was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Cláudio Zanette managed to get in a good position for a shot. Anacetaba's supporters rose to their feet, but Cláudio Zanette was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chiquinho Baptista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romeu Cerezo in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rui Barreto saved Anacetaba from getting behind. In the 64th minute Claudinei Dracena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romeu Cerezo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
