Patriotas FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benedito Vianna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 17th minute, Patriotas FC's Ciro Valladares ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edgar dos Santos. Edgar dos Santos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedito Vianna in the 23rd minute of play forced Patriotas FC's goalkeeper Juarês Koehler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Benedito Vianna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juarês Koehler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zeca Severo kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Carlos Cavalcante during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 28 played minutes Patriotas FC got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos Cavalcante. Juarês Koehler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Novaes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Benedito Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Joseense's supporters rose to their feet, but Benedito Vianna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juarês Koehler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Joseense booed when Patriotas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. If André Novaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 38 played minutes Patriotas FC got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Baptista. In the 44th minute Benedito Vianna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juarês Koehler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patriotas FC's João Carlos Cavalcante got his second yellow card of the match in the 45th minute. The referee ordered João Carlos Cavalcante off the ground. In the 45th minute, João Carlos Cavalcante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ciro Valladares might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edgar dos Santos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ciro Valladares ran back to his position shaking his head. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After a rather tough play, Joseense's Romeu Paraíba got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Edgar dos Santos came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Patriotas FC's Ciro Valladares. But to his dismay, Ciro Valladares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After a rather tough play, Patriotas FC's Zeca Severo got a free kick in the 61st minute. André Novaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juarês Koehler having to interfere. Ciro Valladares's late challenge caught a Joseense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ciro Valladares helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Joseense booed when Patriotas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juarês Koehler made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when André Novaes sent off a good shot on target. When Dorival Falcão fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Patriotas FC's protests and gave Dorival Falcão a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had been going on for 74 minutes, Joseense's André Novaes got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Juarês Koehler. Ciro Valladares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute Ciro Valladares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benedito Vianna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 84 minutes into the game, Ciro Valladares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Edgar dos Santos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Patriotas FC's Juarês Koehler got control of the ball when André Novaes tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when André Novaes got free with Juarês Koehler in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Patriotas FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
