With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manuel Brasil in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jano Gaúcho saved FONFON F.C from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Manuel Brasil put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jano Gaúcho. In the 8thth minute of the game Manuel Brasil who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FONFON F.C's Jano Gaúcho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Manuel Brasil might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jano Gaúcho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Manuel Brasil ran back to his position shaking his head. Jano Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Brasil, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Manuel Brasil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Jano Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, FONFON F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Brasil came free, but Jano Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Brasil in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jano Gaúcho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Tibúrcio Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tapiracanga's Valdemar de Godoy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Tapiracanga from getting a goal against them. In the 25th minute, FONFON F.C's Tibúrcio Freire dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Manuel Brasil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Augusto Dias in the 33rd minute of play forced FONFON F.C's goalkeeper Jano Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the game, Ivar Morat was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FONFON F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tapiracanga the free kick. After a rather tough play, FONFON F.C's Ivar Morat got a free kick in the 34th minute. After 42 played minutes Tapiracanga got a freekick which was hit by Sidnei Tinoco. Wilton das Neves took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 44th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Valdemar de Godoy. Tapiracanga's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thiago Ceresso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jano Gaúcho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The FONFON F.C players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Tapiracanga were winning 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manuel Brasil to strike the kick off in the second half. Manuel Brasil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Tapiracanga booed when FONFON F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilton das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Fernandinho da Mata fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tapiracanga's protests and gave Fernandinho da Mata a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tibúrcio Freire in the 72nd minute of play forced Tapiracanga's goalkeeper Valdemar de Godoy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valdemar de Godoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tibúrcio Freire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 78 minutes into the game, Sidnei Tinoco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tapiracanga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FONFON F.C the free kick. A collision led to Tapiracanga getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Sidnei Tinoco hit a great ball. Vivaldo Maciel's late challenge caught a FONFON F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vivaldo Maciel helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of Tapiracanga:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FONFON F.C:s goal. Enio Nunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Jano Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tibúrcio Freire in the 89th minute of play forced Tapiracanga's goalkeeper Valdemar de Godoy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Cacá Saraiva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valdemar de Godoy. Tapiracanga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cacá Saraiva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-4. A collision led to FONFON F.C getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Tibúrcio Freire hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in FONFON F.C's zone, Enio Nunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jano Gaúcho came out of the goal and Enio Nunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Tapiracanga supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Tapiracanga would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
